Abstract

We report on the hormonal profile pattern of 37 patients with male infertility, who were referred to the Endocrine Clinic at this hospital. Particular attention was directed at prolactin levels and their relationship to serum levels of LH and FSH, semen analysis and the testicular biopsy findings in these patients. Eighteen patients subsequently received bromocriptine therapy, irrespective of their serum prolactin levels. Although bromocriptine treatment effectively lowered serum prolactin levels, only five patients showed an increase in sperm count. One patient's wife conceived a pregnancy, but this patient was receiving combination therapy with both bromocriptine and clomiphene.
