Abstract

This paper focuses on a case study of a computerised Catering Information System using Biometric Technology recently implemented at Sultan Qaboos University to replace a manual system that was used to handle the catering services for many years. The new automated Catering Information System caused a huge reduction in operation cost. It's also created an efficient and effective working environment. Work procedure was re-engineered to be able to adopt and operate the automated system in a proper manner. Finally, the paper concludes with summary of findings highlighting some of the issues that need to be taken care of when introducing Computerised Catering Information System in academic institutions.
