Abstract

Awareness of sustainable development in manufacturing enterprises needs to be estimated and evaluated. The major objective of this paper is to explore new technique to assess the awareness of sustainability in these enterprises. The assessment technique was developed in theoretical concept and its applicability was directly tested in two manufacturing enterprises based on conducting questionnaire survey through the main stakeholders. These stakeholders are represented by managers in manufacturing enterprises and departments in government; public, and academic in institutional educations. These stakeholders are so-called awareness types that influence on the level of aggregate sustainability awareness. The designed questionnaire will be distributed among awareness types and the collected data will be analyzed and discussed individual for each awareness type and aggregate for the whole. Case studies will be used to illustrate the proposed approach of estimating the degree of awareness, and the new assessment approach is used as a template to assess the current state of awareness in manufacturing enterprises.
