Experiments and Modeling of Shallow Urban Aquifers: Assessment and Mitigation of Water Logging

Project: Other project

Project Details

Description

Waterlogging of an urban area in a hyper-arid climate of Oman, caused by impedance of evapotranspiration due to land cover by an impervious pavement, excess irrigation of ornamental vegetation, unfavorable stratification of shallow subsurface sediments, and other factors will be studied by a multidisciplinary team of researchers (hydropedologists, hydrogeologists, groundwater hydrologist, agronomist, soil physicists and mathematical modelers) with a focus to the area of the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) campus and adjacent area of the Al Jifnain flood protection dam.
