ملخص

Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A was diagnosed by a combination of Tc- 99m sulfur colloid, TI-201 chloride, X-ray computed tomography, sonography, and magnetic resonance imaging, all of which supported the clinical and laboratory findings. The patient had undergone thyroidectomy for medullary carcinoma of the thyroid and had a strong family history of thyroid 'tumors.' Her serum calcitonin and urinary vanillylmandelic acid levels were markedly elevated before bilateral adrenalectomy, during which histopathologic confirmation of bilateral adrenal pheochromocytomas was obtained. Follow-up calcitonin and vanillylmandelic acid levels will be measured.
