ملخص

The feasibility of adapting cellular manufacturing is currently tested through results obtained from applying a selected method for cell formation where it is not possible to judge whether a failure to form good machine cells is due to the bad performance of the selected method or the unsuitability of cellular manufacturing. This paper describes a simple approach to test whether an underlying pattern of relationship exists between the machines of a given system, such that the machines may be rearranged into manufacturing cells without reliance on results obtained from applying a cell formation method.
