ملخص
Distributed wind systems can be an alternative approach to deploy wind generators into moderate (low to good) wind speed sites. This paper investigates the potential of developing distributed wind systems for low to good wind resource sites. The investigation is carried out based on the wind data analysis at locations having the average annual wind speed between 4.40-5.98 m/s at 10 m height. The investigation also includes the analysis of the annual energy captured by the small, medium and large wind turbines, and the capacity factors of these turbines. This work also provides a comparative study of the capacity factors of commercially available wind turbines for the selected sites. The outcomes of the analysis reveal that the small wind turbine has great potential to develop the distributed wind systems for low to good wind sites, while the large wind turbine has excellent potential for medium to good wind sites.
