Complementary split-ring resonators for simultaneous switching noise mitigation in high-speed circuits

ملخص

The power within a printed-circuit board PCB is usually distributed by means of power planes. These planes extend over the whole PCB board. One of the planes serves as a ground, while the other is at a higher potential than the ground plane, which comprises the parallel-plate guiding system. The power/ground planes are expected to supply clean power to integrated circuits (ICs) and chips connected to the planes. However, with hundreds or more gates switching simultaneously within power planes, voltage uctuations in the ICs power distribution can lead to false switching as well as degradation of the signal integrity (SI). This kind of electromagnetic noise is known as simultaneous switching noise (SSN), or ground-bounce.
