Abstract
The problem of hydrodynamic stability with regard to a linear approximation of a flow of ideal incompressible fluid with constant vorticity in a rotating elliptical cylinder is considered. The method of successive approximations is used. A method of experimental observation of instability is proposed which involves coloring a thin cylindrical volume of fluid along the axis of rotation.
