Abstract

Most international regional, political, military, and economic organizations were created during the course of the twentieth century. Some of them like the Warsaw Pact have disappeared. Another, the European Economic Community (or the Common Market), was renamed the European Community (EC) and finally transformed into the European Union. The Organization of African Unity has been superseded by the African Union without introducing significant change in its structures or functions.
