Abstract

Objective: To study the influence of the mode of expressing the lower limb explosiveness (absolute performance and power output derived from prediction equations) on the relationship between the results obtained during three evaluation tests. Synthesis of facts: One hundred and three young team sports players participated in this study. They performed a 10. m straight sprint (S10m), the counter movement jump (CMJ) and the five jumps test (FTJ). The performance measurements are then converted into power output during each test using equations proposed by different authors. The correlations between the performances measured during the three tests (-0.5. <. r<. 0.37) were significant but lower than those observed between the calculated power (0.77. <. r<. 0.94). Conclusion: Contrary to absolute performance, there are strong relationships between the powers calculated for the three tests that can be described as redundant.
