Abstract

The basis of this project is to create a private schools advisory system prototype using a rules-based system technique. This paper discusses the knowledge elicitation, the system development and the system preliminary evaluation stages. To begin with, the knowledge was elicited from general directorate of private schools, and related websites. Then, the reasoning logic (inputs, outputs, and middle) of the system was developed. Finally, the system was developed using a freeware rules-based shell. After the development process, the developed private schools advisory system was passed to parents, the potential users for an evaluation. Also, the study assessed the participating parents' preferences in terms of using this developed advisory system or a human expert for school selection advising.
