Abstract

The field dependence of the hyperfine interaction of holmium in an oriented single crystal of Ho0.01Gd0.99Al2 has been studied, at liquid helium temperatures, in fields up to 8 T. Exchange and crystal field parameters for Ho3+ in GdAl2 are discussed in the light of our results.
