Abstract

The isolation and structure determination of novel phenolic glucosides. lawsoniaside {1} and lalioside {5}, from Lawsonia inermis are described. Evidence from spectroscopic data and chemical transformations showed 1 and 5 to be 1,2,4-trihydroxynaphthalene-1, 4-di-β-D-glucopyranoside and 2,3,4,6-tetrahydroxyacetophenone-2-β-D-glucopyranoside, respectively.
