Abstract
This paper presents a new formulation for wind turbine capacity factor (CF) estimation using wind speed characteristics at any site and the power performance curve parameters of any pitch-regulated wind turbine. Compared to the existing model, the proposed formulation is simpler and results inmoreaccurate CF estimation. The accuracy of the proposed model is verified using measured data from an existing wind farm. Four illustrative case studies and parameter sensitivity analysis are presented to test the effectiveness of the model in turbine-site matching applications.
