Abstract
Investigates the use of Hilbert Transform in the analysis of magnetic anomalies caused due to a vertical fault. The first horizontal of the magnetic anomaly is transformed into vertical derivatives by means of Hilbert Transform. These 2 derivatives are made use of in the interpretation. The body parameters are obtained by means of simple and elegant mathematical expressions. Three theoretical examples are illustrated. A field example of total magnetic field pertaining to Lachlan foldbelt, New South Wales, Australia is incorporated. A brief discussion on the utility of amplitude, phase, envelope, and instantaneous frequency is also included. -Authors
