Abstract
Objective: The aim of the study is to examine the higher level of bifurcation of the Common Carotid Artery (CCA) in human cadaver. Design: A gross anatomical study to note the higher level of bifurcation of the CCA. Materials and Methods: The neck region was dissected on both sides, in 35 human cadavers, and the level of bifurcation of the CCA was examined. Results: A higher level of bifurcation of the CCA was noted in a male cadaver aged 55 years. No other abnormalities were observed. Conclusion: A higher level of the CCA bifurcation may be commonly encountered in day to day practice. These anatomical variations if present, requires proper knowledge prior to all surgical and radiological procedures, in order to avoid any serious complications.
