Abstract

Sediments have been collected from Rayapur and Sattur ponds around Lakamanahalli industrial area and analysed for trace elements content viz., Cd, Pb, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mn, Fe and Cr. Sediments showed 2 - fold increased level of studied elements concentration in comparison with relatively non - polluted values. Further, the results of "correlation coefficient and t-test" values indicate positive correlation in deposition and significant at 5 % level of confidence. The higher content of these trace elements in the sediments is attributed to surrounding industrial activity.
