Abstract

In this paper, a classically designed coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed disc monopole antenna is geometrically modified to obtain better performance in the frequency range 3.110.6 GHz. A tapered co-planar waveguide transmission line is adopted to improve the return loss performance in the required band. The complex radiation transfer function is simulated at three different directions to investigate the dispersive properties of the designed antenna. A prototype was fabricated and tested. The antenna was found to provide an ultra wide 10 dB return loss bandwidth with satisfactory omnidirectional radiation pattern.
