Abstract

This paper presents a new situational approach for the Quality of Service (QoS) evaluation process for web services. This approach has been proposed to respond to some limitations of existing QoS evaluation approaches such as they do not cover all aspects of the evaluation process, lack of flexibility and they provide a little guidance to the evaluators on how to conduct this process. The proposed approach guides the on-the-fly construction of new evaluation methods based on existing evaluation method components. These components are redefined and stored in method repository to be used in the selection and assembly of new methods according to the situation at hands. This guidance approach assists at three levels: 1) in the selection of the most appropriate evaluation process model, 2) in the selection of the most appropriate method components and 3) in applying the selected method component.
