Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This research aims to know the specificity of the Nietzschean approach to the question of Alterity. This specificity resides in the fact of making possible the idea of thinking the “Otherness” separately from an essential ego. Whereas, the Nietzschean thinking on the issue of the Other cannot be understood in the light of the philosophical context that considers the Other as everything that differs from the “I” as an essence, identity, or simple unity and immediate certainty. Because the “I” according to Nietzsche is not unity but rather a multiplicity, just as the other in turn is a multiplicity, in addition to the fact that the other can be outside the “individual” as it can be within him. It is a thesis that can only be understood in relation to Nietzsche's idea of the Will to Power. The research concludes that Nietzsche's images of the Other are diverse, and the forms of relationship with him are multiple and varied in terms of their significance and value. There are, among them, neighborliness, friendship, enmity, love, compassion, altruism, education and motivation.
