Abstract
Thinking about modernity, at the beginning, took the form of foundation, by defining the characteristics of modernity, as a vision of the world, based on belief in reason, freedom and human ability to progress. However, after this foundational approach, critical approaches to modernity emerged later, diagnosing its limits and contradictions. Among these approaches is the viewpoint of the French philosopher and sociologist Edgar Morin, who talks about a general crisis in the current civilization. This research aims to know the meanings of the concept "crisis", the manifestations of this crisis, its causes, and how to think about possible ways to get out of it. The researcher used a descriptive approach that enabled him to define the foundations of modernity and then criticize these foundations from Moran's perspective.
