Abstract
Objective: To study the reliability and validity of the modified T-test in young soccer players. Synthesis of facts: Eighteen young soccer players with different levels of competition, divided into two groups, (n=9) participated in the study. They performed the modified T-test (TM), Free Counter Movement Jump (FCMJ) and 10. m straight sprint (S10). TM has an excellent reliability with an ICC of 0.93. High significant correlations were observed between the TM and both FCMJ (r=-0.77, P=0.000) and S10 (r = 0.80, P = 0.000). Area under the curve calculated from the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) was 0.926 (95% CI: 0.701 to 0.990) indicating the discriminative power of the TM to distinguish between the two groups' performances. Conclusion: The TM is a reliable and valid field test to evaluate the change direction speed of young soccer players.
