Abstract

Abstract
The study aimed to arrive at proposed mechanisms to activate the perceived organizational support (POS) for faculty members at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).The study relied on the descriptive approach, applying a questionnaire to a random sample of (120) faculty members at SQU. The study reached several results, including: the degree of POS at SQU was medium, and there were no statistically significant differences among the responses of the study sample about POS due to the variables of occupation, gender, and number of years of work at the university. In addition, there were statistically significant differences between the responses of the sample about POS according to nationality in favor of non-Omanis. The study found several obstacles to the POS, including: the lack of clarity on the types of support provided by SQU, the centralized and bureaucratic administrative systems, the difficulty of promotions, the lack of clarity in their standards, and the lack of incentives. The study also referred to a set of aspects for activating the POS for faculty member of SQU, including simplifying procedures, listening to academics, and providing the training needs of faculty members.
