HEAT TRANSFER IN A FLUID SATURATED POROUS MEDIUM

Project: Other project

Project Details

Description

Nanofluids describe a solid-fluid mixture, which consists of nanoparticles and a base fluid. They exhibit novel properties that make them potentially useful in many applications. Nanotechnology plays an important role in the development of the 21st century modern devices for practical use. One very important aspect of nanotechnology concerns the heating and cooling of the nano-devices because it is crucial for their proper functionality. We plan to address this aspect by investigating the convective heat transfer mechanisms in nanofluids with different flow and thermal conditions in a porous cavity using local thermal non-equilibrium model. The mathematical model of the proposed nanofluid problem will be simulated numerically. The simulated results will be interpreted physically and their implications will be identified. Thus, successful completion of the project is expected to produce interesting results for understanding the basic characteristics of the nanofluids and could provide novel applications in the emerging areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
