Project Details

Description

In this collaborative research, a vibration-based energy harvesting system in harsh environments will be investigated. This system converts the destructive vibrational energy to electrical energy. The system consists of a vibration generator (frequency < 200 Hz, amplitude < 1mm) and a harvester. Unbalanced rotor of an electromotor or cam-follower mechanisms are suitable candidates to generate the vibrations. Harvester consists of converting element based on electromagnetic, electrostatic, magnetomechanical or electrostrictive principles. The efficiency of harvesting process under various loads (e.g., frequency, amplitude, mode shape of applied vibration) and environmental conditions (even harsh environment) will be investigated in this research.
