Design and Develop Electronic Faculty Appraisal System

Project: Other project

Project Details

Description

The performance of faculty staff constitutes an important factor in the university life as it influences and reflects institution performance level in academic, research, and community service. The academic accreditation at the institution level or at the level of specializations in colleges depends largely on the faculty staff performance level. Moreover, the performance of faculty staff contributes in rising the university level of competitiveness to obtain advanced international rank. Consequently, existence of infrastructure that integrates data and information related to the faculty staff performance in terms of research production, teaching performance, professional growth, and community service is very important in the universities. An easily accessible system could help administrations to make quick and right decisions in a timely manner. Currently, the College of Education maintains a faculty profile called Faculty Appraisal that is used as one of the key determinants of academic accreditation and the faculty academic ranking system in addition to renew the contract of expatriate faculty members. The faculty appraisal data is updated regularly, and the data collection process is repeated yearly through emails and MS word template file. Although it is an annual continuous process, it is a stressful process and requires extensive effort and time to collect data, analyze it, and then generate final reports. This research aims at designing and developing an electronic faculty appraisal system entitled eFAPPS, which is web-based platform to automate faculty appraisal system at SQU-College of Education. The system will maintain electronic forms (e-forms) of faculty profiles, which may contain the performance, achievement, and contributions of COE faculty members in teaching and learning, research, community services, and administration.
