This introductory course presents fundamental analytical tools that are implemented to understand and address local and global environmental challenges. A set of basic concepts in environmental economics will be presented, such as public goods, externalities, economic efficiency and social cost-benefit analysis. Environmental degradation and policies for environmental regulations will also be discussed. Particular attention will be paid to the problem of pollution and climate change.
