ملخص

This paper summarises results of investigations conducted within the framework of the research project MOSES-B. The objective of MOSES was to generate a data set containing of 40 years of water levels, currents and waves for selected areas of the German North Sea coast. The area of interest of MOSES-B was the Dithmarschen Bight of the south eastern North Sea. In this paper, the developed method is presented exemplary for the hydrodynamic parameters of water levels and currents. Existing near shore models were extended and used to generate high resolving hydrodynamic fields for a period of 40 years. The models were forced with data of the HIPOCAS project and the Windatlas of the German Meteorological Service. The flow model was validated against tide gauge data, showing a mean absolute error of 0.2 m. Continuous flow simulations were conducted for the period between 1962 and 2002. As a result, temporally and spatially high resolving hydrodynamic fields are available for the area and time of investigation. To reduce computing time the effectiveness of principal components analysis in conjunction with neuronal networks in generating long time series was assessed. On the base of comparison with process based modelling the effectiveness and reliability of the methods in predicting water levels, current and waves was confirmed.
