ملخص
A surge arrester connected to a laboratory analogue of an isolated distribution line or cable with trapped charge has been tested for its performance against lightning surges. The line/cable system has been substituted by an equivalent capacitance which has been previously charged from a direct-voltage source. A single-stage capacitor bank is triggered to provide a lightning impulse test current. Both the discharge current and the residual voltage across the arrester were measured. Such tests have been performed upon different metal-oxide arresters of the same rating. Variable results were found. In some cases the residual voltage at peak current was found to be significantly influenced by the pre-conditioning caused by trapped charge.
