ملخص

The aim idea of this study is to examine, quantify and critically assess the settlement history of the northern Oman Peninsula from the Hafit period (late 4th/early 3rd millennium BC) to recent times. Many archaeological surveys have been undertaken in the region, but few of them have attempted to provide quantified settlement data. Their results are good in mapping settlement
and in providing descriptive information, and when these results are combined it is possible to obtain a rough and sketchy picture of longer-term regional trends in the growth and decline of settlement intensity. However, the datasets that they provide are not quantifiable.
