ملخص

The agricultural solid wastes were studied for the preparation of activated carbon. The solid waste recycling technology made the removal of pollutants not only economical but also environmental friendly. Activated carbon was prepared by physical and chemical methods employing various techniques. Their characterization studies such as bulk density, moisture content, ash content, fixed carbon content, matter soluble in water, matter soluble in acid, pH, decolorising power, phenol number, ion exchange capacity, iron content and surface area were carried out to assess the suitability of these carbons for water and wastewater treatment. Activated carbon showed to be a good adsorbing materials for organics and inorganics present in wastewater.
