ملخص

A low-cost design of populated power/ground plane based on metamaterials is proposed for wideband suppression of simultaneous switching noise. The new power plane requires only minimal copper etching of complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs). The switching noise mitigation capability of this populated power plane is permissible due to bandstop characteristic of the CSRRs once excited with a normal electric field. Numerical full-wave simulations based on CST micowave studio are presented and validated with Ansys HFSS. Based on the numerical results, wideband suppression of SSN was achieved from 2.46 GHz and extending beyond 12 GHz, that is well suited for noise mitigation in ultra-wideband systems and circuits. Moreover, signal integrity performance of the power plane with CSRRs is assessed and compared against the reference solid power plane.
