Objective: To study the entrapment of common peroneal nerve in a dissected human cadaver. Design: The presence of common peroneal nerve entrapment between bipartite piriformis was noted. Material and Methods: The pelvic and the gluteal region of a 55 year old Indian male cadaver was dissected to expose the anomaly of sciatic nerve division and bipartite piriformis muscle. The specimen was studied and photographed. Results: The sciatic nerve divided into common peroneal and tibial nerves, higher up in the pelvis instead of gluteal region. The common peroneal nerve was entrapped between the two components of piriformis. Conclusion: The site of entrapment of common peroneal nerve is explained anatomically and the awareness and the importance of the anomaly is highlighted.
