Egg contamination as an indicator for environmental health

Contamination of egg contents may occur in two ways. Direct transmission from the ovary and uterus (vertical infection) or (horizontal infection) from contaminated feces. Limited studies were conducted on penetration of bacteria into the eggs. Infection and penetration of bacteria into the chicken eggs and subsequent phases to establish infection, was found to be related to time factor.
