title = "China{\textquoteright}s Military Strategy in the Indian Ocean Region",
abstract = "The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was declared by China in 2013 and it encompasses Chinese investment in seventy countries. Chinese military strategies have been continuing since the Meng Dynasty to current times, but this initiative is designated as a global scale Communist Party masterpiece. The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of BRI on Chinese military strategies and its impact on China{\textquoteright}s position in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf regions. The research is based on the realism approach - specifically the usage of Sea Power theory - to explain the Chinese military strategists{\textquoteright} behavior in the recently announced policies. The main findings of this research are revealing that after the BRI, Chinese military strategists adopt naval-oriented strategies to protect Sea Routes as a way to preserve their economic sustainability. Moreover, it seems that China, regional powers (India), and the hegemon power (US) in the region will face each other in the Indian Ocean region. The main question is how they are going to treat each other, realist way-confrontation or liberalist way-cooperation.",
