Backstepping Position Control of High Frequency Piezoelectric Actuator Used in Ultrasonically Assisted Manufacturing

ملخص

Ultrasonically Assisted Machining is an emerging technology that improved the surface finishing in material machining such as turning, milling, and drilling where smart material actuators are used to vibrate the cutting tip while machining. However, controlling the amplitude and frequency of these smart actuators is tedious and difficult task due to the inherent nonlinearities associated with smart materials. Therefore, this paper aims to developing an advanced control system that uses position and frequency feedback to control the vibration of ultrasonic piezoelectric transducer. A numerical simulation is presented as well to show that the proposed controller provides an appropriate vibration at the required displacement and frequency.
