ملخص

In January 2004, the Ministry of Culture, Sultan Qaboos University and representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council conducted a survey and rescue archaeological excavations in Bausher area, Sultanate of Oman. The oldest archaeological evidence in Bausher area can be dated to Hafit period (ca. end of the Fourth millennium BC and the beginning of the Third millennium BC). In fact, the occupation of the site seems to have been continuous, since the site shows evidence of occupation extending to the Islamic period. Furthermore, the site faces increasing pressure from the present building activities. The survey has pointed to seven archaeological areas. Excavation has unearthed archaeological material ranging from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age. This paper discusses the outcome of the site excavation and looks into the issue of the
"topos-culture" which all communities associate with a particular place along with the related concepts, values, and geographical and environmental characteristics and resources, etc.
