تفاصيل المشروع

Description

The main purpose of this proposed study is to test the feasibility and the accessibility of a Self-Efficacy Enhancing Smart-Phone Application (SEESPA) among pregnant women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM. Later there is a future plan to compare the effectiveness of the proposed self-efficacy enhancing smart-phone application versus the traditional health education and the standard prenatal care (control) provided for women with GDM. Considering the Omani health care system, the proposed study is expected to lay the foundation for succeeding studies that will seek an understanding of predictors of improvement in self-efficacy for adherence to healthy behaviors among Omani pregnant women with gestational diabetes. Subsequently, it is expected to inform health policy makers in designing effective and culturally sensitive health education program that seeks to maintain optimal pregnancy outcomes of Omani pregnant women with GDM. An effective health education program is planned to educate and motivate GDM women to adhere to healthy lifestyles. Improved adherence to healthy behaviors will result in improved pregnancy outcomes of GDM women and their infants.
