A Decomposition of Cross-Gender Differentials in Academic Achievement at Sultan Qaboos University

This study addresses the gender differential in academic achievement across genders at Sultan Qaboos University. Controlling for socio-economic and psychological characteristics, as well as time allocation of students, we will explore whether the achievement gap is actually due to differences in students' abilities. A clear understanding of the causes of academic performance differentials will lead to a better interpretation of graduates' actual abilities. That in turn, will facilitate a more efficient human resource allocation across Oman.
